Announcing The Prince of Artemis V comic book

by Jennifer 6. February 2018 08:37

Apocalypse Ink Productions would like to announce a new first. Author Jennifer Brozek and artist Elizabeth Guizzetti have teamed up to produce a comic book based on one of Jennifer’s short stories.

“The Prince of Artemis V” first appeared in Crossed Genres, Issue 15 in 2010. It is a story of hard choices, family duty, and the bonds between siblings no one can break.

Artemis V is the only place in the Universe where the purpuran flower, the main component of the imperial royal dye, grows. Beholden to the Empire, the harvesters of the delicate plant can only follow their corporate master’s wishes or starve. Woe to the workers trapped on the unforgiving planet if they fail in their assigned task.

Artemis V is also a planet under a slow-moving, relentless siege which has lasted hundreds of years. Every fourteen months, the Takers steal certain children, ages eight to fourteen, from Artemis V. Every family has been touched. Locked in their rooms, or under the watchful guard of their parents, children still vanish in the night. No one knows how it happens or who takes them.

Except for maybe one. Hart lost his twin brother, Toor, to the Takers. His sister, Lanteri, is now of the Taking age. But Hart has a secret: he knows who the Takers are and has defeated them in the past. When his mom begs Hart to keep Lanteri safe, he agrees. The question is… does he really want to?

“Some stories stay with you, even if it’s been a few years since you’ve written them. “The Prince of Artemis V” as a short story is one of those,” says Jennifer Brozek. “I am  beyond pleased to have worked with Elizabeth to turn it into a comic. She is amazing.”

Author and Illustrator, Elizabeth Guizzetti has this to say about the project. “Working with Jennifer Brozek on The Prince of Artemis V was a fantastic experience. She worked hard with me to ensure this was a fair collaboration. She is great at listening to my concerns about pacing and took a few of suggestions about the script.”

The Prince of Artemis V is available for order through Kobo, and Amazon. You can also pre-order a copy through Amazon or by visiting Jennifer at your local dealer table.

“Readers will be enthralled with Prince of Artemis V's undeniable intrigue, but their hearts will be stolen by this achingly wonderful story of familial bonds. Brozek presents a much-needed fresh take that makes it impossible to put this sci-fi / fantasy tale down.”

Apocalypse Ink Productions 3rd Year Anniversary

by Jennifer 6. April 2015 10:49

This month, Apocalypse Ink Productions celebrates our 3rd anniversary. We started this independent publishing company with a plan to produce excellent dark fiction and non-fiction books that assist writers in their venture towards publication.

Of course, not everything went exactly as planned; there’ve been some hiccups and heartaches. Through it all, we’ve always found a way to not only move forward but learn from the experience.

We’ve met some really great authors in the past few years and made friends from all over the world. You have our sincere thanks. Without you we’d not be here.

AIP would also like to give our authors a big shout out. Some of you have been with us for most of the ride. Others are newly acquired. Our biggest desire is to see you succeed so we will work hard to make that happen.

To our fans, thank you so much for supporting us.

To those who have just happened across our site, let me introduce you to the crew.

Ivan Ewert is the author of the Gentleman Ghouls series. The first two books, Famished: The Farm and Famished: The Commons are currently out with Ivan working on the third book of the series, Famished: The Ranch currently in production.

The Sheynan trilogy, by Dylan Birtolo, takes you into the world of shapeshifters with the first two books, The Shadow Chaser and The Bringer of War. The third book, The Torn Soul will be out next month.

If you’d like dark fantasy Peter M Ball’s trilogy, The Flotsam, is right up your alley. The first two books, Exile and Frost take you to The Gold Coast in Australia. Crusade, released later this year, concludes this series.

Jennifer Brozek concluded her Karen Wilson Chronicles last month. Follow Karen Wilson as she discovers a hidden world in the very city she lives in. We’d also like to congratulate her on her Hugo award nomination for Best Editor, Short Form. We couldn’t be more happy for her.

Look for a new series by Wendy Hammer. The Thin, the first book in The Cross Cutting trilogy comes out in August.

But AIP also has non-fiction as well.

If you are considering writing for RPGs or editing an anthology, Industry Talk, would be great to check out.

Last but not least is Jay Lake’s Process of Writing. This book takes the reader through posts written by Jay Lake throughout his years of writing. It’s an excellent glimpse at the growth and process of writing.

Again, we thank you for reading and we look forward to bringing you more books in the upcoming years.

Jay Lake’s Process of Writing Non-Fiction Book Bought

by Jennifer 19. September 2012 12:02

Apocalypse Ink Productions has bought the Jay Lake non-fiction book Jay Lake’s Process of Writing. Based on more than a decade of Lake’s blog posts pertaining to writing process, Lake’s down-to-earth and in-the-trenches thoughts on what it takes to be a working author will inform and inspire all levels of writers.

“I've been thinking and talking about writing for a long time. Finally, I've been given the opportunity to organize those thoughts in a way that is hopefully helpful to both emerging writers and established authors. In this book you'll find some wit, some wisdom and a lot of my own learning curve, along with some new material to bridge it all together and make sense of years of public rambling.”

Jay Lake’s Process of Writing has been scheduled for release in May of 2013.
